Michelle began her career in nursing care in 1980. During that time she has worked within the fields of learning disabilities, care of the elderly, orthopaedics, renal, emergency medicine and maxillo-facial.
Upon achieving her qualifications, Michelle spent two years working in a cardiac care unit in an NHS hospital putting her skills into practice and learning new ones. Michelle also spent some time working with a social services homecare unit providing support and assistance to clients in their own homes.
In 2004 Michelle decided to move out to the Costa del Sol and put her nursing skills to use and began working for a nursing agency in the community before being offered a deputy Matron post in a small care home for six people. The experience gained in the residencia helped Michelle to gain insight and knowledge into the Spanish healthcare system and to build up a network of other health care professionals.
As result of this she decided to set up her own business providing social care and support for English speaking ex-pats on the Costa del Sol. Michelle’s ethos is to provide British standards of nursing in the sunshine of Spain.
Michelle keeps up her professional development of clinical skills and knowledge by subscribing to medical and nursing journals, engaging in multi-disciplinary reviews of clients and attending training to learn new skills. Michelle also has an interest in learning cross over skills and has been undertaking some training in passive physiotherapy under the supervision of a chartered, English speaking physiotherapist.
Michelle has a particular interest in wound care and pressure ulcers under the guidance of a doctor. Michelle’s family all live in the UK but are frequent visitors to the Costa. When not working, Michelle likes to spend time with her family and walk her dog along the paseo.
